FROM HAZARDOUS TO HIGH-END CURB APPEAL

By replacing a deteriorating and hazardous entrance with a grand architectural walkway, this project redefined the property’s first impression. The design focuses on scale and material harmony, transforming a standard residential front yard into a luxury entrance that provides both a functional morning retreat and commanding curb appeal within the Burlington community.

The Execution

The hazardous existing stone was replaced with a thoughtfully designed layout that maximizes the grand size of the entrance. By blending natural stone elements with premium pre-cast masonry, the execution provides a timeless transition from the street to the sanctuary of the home.

PROPERTY FEATURES

THE GRAND ENTRANCE

The primary focus of the build is the oversized walkway and porch. Featuring slab-style paving stones and a natural stone porch covering, the entrance was scaled to feel monumental. The integration of solid Natural Stone Steps provides a permanent, high-end feel that replaces the instability of the previous hazardous stairs.

MATERIAL FUSION

A key detail of the project is the deliberate mix of natural and pre-cast materials. Armour Stone Walls provide the structural “bones” for the garden beds, offering a rugged, organic contrast to the clean, geometric lines of the modern slab paving stones.

CURB APPEAL & LIGHTING

To ensure the luxury aesthetic remains visible after sunset, a network of low-voltage landscape lighting was integrated along the walkway and armour stone perimeter. These light sources highlight the textures of the stone and provide a safe, illuminated path for guests.

THE MORNING RETREAT

Beyond being a simple walkway, the space was designed to function as a seating area. Surrounded by fresh plantings and ornamental grasses, the front porch now serves as a private pocket for morning coffee, proving that front yards can be as functional as they are beautiful.
